Lennon turns 1!

What a joy it is to be able to not only photograph babies in their first few weeks of life, I am also blessed to get to photograph a lot of these babies around their 1st Birthday as well. Ms. Lennon was one of those! I just loved this session so much. Mom styled everything perfectly and I really love the boho, simplistic look that allowed Lennon to be the main focus. She is such a beautiful little one with so much personality. Happy 1st Birthday<3

Daniel Family!

What can I say about this awesome family? I met Michelle when she was manager of our bank and we hit it off right away! I photographed Isabella’s 1 year photos and have been photographing this growing family ever since. I always say this and will say it a million times over: Photography to me is about the relationships I build and the memories I capture as repeat clients families grow. It has truly been an honor to photograph so many memories for this family over the last 8 years! I truly do have the best job in the world!

I started my photography journey in 2003 when my oldest daughter Pamela was born. I received my Bachelor in Fine Art with a major in photography The Illinois Institute of Art in Schaumburg in May of 2010. I started my business shortly after and have been growing it ever since! Photographing families and the connections they share is why I love what I do. My favorite thing about this job is when repeat clients come to me over the years and I am able to capture their families as they grow!

Fresh 48 is a special session for those new families who want the first few hours of their newborn’s life captured without having the entire labor or birth documented. The session takes place within the first 24-48 hours of your baby’s life, these lifestyle sessions are perfect for remembering that first day forever. This package is not meant to replace a studio newborn session! There is no posing or props. This package is meant to capture life in those few moments straight after birth in the most natural way.

The Schag family was seriously one of my favorite families to work with, they were some of the most genuine people I have ever met. This family was a perfect fit for me, my business and my style. Its always wonderful going from the nerves of meeting a brand new family and photographing their maternity session to then meeting the baby at the fresh 48 and then several days later photographing the newborn photos.

Newborns are my favorite subject to photograph! I love the way they smell, yawn. stretch, smile, etc, etc, etc… I also love photographing the bond between new siblings. My job is special because over time I am able to watch these families grow and change. It really is a beautiful thing! I feel so honored and incredibly blessed to be a part of this<3<3<3

Annemarie was such sweet angel! She loved to be wrapped but didn’t mind the naked poses either. Big sis Elizabeth was so proud and I can only imagine the special bond they will have when they are older.

Sisters: 
They share a special bond that is impossible to describe. 
It can only be felt and understood by the sisters who share it. 
They go through life together as a team, helping and supporting each other 
Through whatever this world has destined for them. 
They will never give up on each other, 
For giving up on your sister means giving up on yourself. 
They smile together, laugh together, 
Lie for each other, lie to each other and cry together.
Your sister is the one person you can confide your whole self to, the one person who understands.
She is the person who will stand by your side until the very end.
She has and always will be there for you during all the times in your life, 
Whether they be happy or sad.
A sister is someone who knows you better than you know yourself. 
She is someone you can't imagine your life without, 
And just the thought of it makes you want to cry.
She is someone who knows you're not okay, even when you say you are.

Leila’s 1 | Studio Cake Smash | Waterfall Family Session

My how fast babies grow up. I photographed Leila’s Fresh 48 and Newborn Sessions.

We had to reschedule the session 3 times due to rain and humidity.

Leila really didn’t show much expression with her cake but she absolutely loved it!

I was able to capture her real smiles when we did the family session outdoor and daddy was present:)

Griswold the family dog joined in on the family pics just like he did in her newborn session.

He’s such a good pup!

I found this great waterfall last year(thanks to a fellow photographer) and its the perfect location for family photos. It is truly a hidden Gem. It’s called the Jon J. Duerr Forest Preserve and is located in South Elgin.

Fishing during Liam’s newborn session was fun. Liam’s dad has a love for fishing. He wanted to incorporate that in Liam’s newborn session. I gladly oblige when my clients want to try something new. A happy client makes for a happy session. Liam’s newborn session was a happy session.

Some photographers like alert babies. Others like sleepy babies. I don’t mind either. Liam gave me the best of both worlds. Liam loved being wrapped. It kept him sleepy and cooperative during the photo shoot.

Liam’s newborn session was lots of fun. His parents were very laid back and allowed me to capture the photos I envisioned. Liam’s newborn session gave me the opportunity to get creative with boys. I usually capture more newborn girls than boys. Liam changed that.

FISHING WITH DAD

I remember my dad waking me up at 4 o’clock.
Barely getting up with my eyes half shut,
Getting ready and packing up dad’s truck,
Hoping to catch some fish down at the dock.
Driving to the lake and still dark,
Watching dad drive and listening to my dogs bark.
Thinking this time I’ll make my mark,
And just hoping to catch the big one.
On the boat driving around,
Knowing I won’t be leaving with a frown.

Cause I’m with dad and he knows best,
Because he’s wearing his famous fishing vest.
Tying the hooks on my line.
Too bad this pole isn’t mine.
Dad said he’ll buy me one when I’m older
And just a little more bolder.
I love my daddy so much
And I know he loves me too.
His love for me is stronger than glue,
And that is why I wrote this for you.
Dad if you are listening I love you so.
You are the reason why I glow.

Riley’s newborn session was an instant favorite. Partly due to the fact that he had two of the cutest siblings with him to capture some great shots. Tim and Laura have become close personal friends of mine and when they asked me to photograph Riley, I was so honored.

Riley’s newborn session was so easy to photograph. Mom and dad took turns holding him and soothing him which helped tremendously. During Riley’s newborn session I captured so many precious moments of him and the family. This resulted in them receiving many more photos than what came in their package. That tends to happen a lot with my work. I provide an abundance of photos for families all the time.

As you stroll through Riley’s Newborn session gallery you will see the love that he was and is surrounded by everyday. Riley was the missing piece for this family. Riley’s siblings could get enough of Riley during the photo shoot. Brother and sister couldn’t keep their hands or lips off of him. Riley’s newborn session took place at my studio. Newborn sessions at my studio tend to run smoothly for me and for the families I photograph. There are things for the siblings to do and places for mom and dad to retreat to in between shots. Feel free to take a look through the gallery and see the joy, love and pure happiness that this family showed.

Liam’s Fresh 48 was so fun to photograph. I get excited to meet and photograph first time parents. Liam’s parents were so excited to capture these photos. Liam’s Fresh 48 session was perfect in every single way. Liam stayed asleep. Liam had a full set of hair. And Liam’s parents had that new mom and dad no sleep thing going. “It comes with the territory” I told them. Being a new parent is such a blessing.

I always enjoy photographing fresh newborns. It allows me to capture little things that can’t be recreated later on. For Liam’s Fresh 48 I was able to focus on the little things. The emotions that a parent exhibits in those first two days are the most important things to capture. Liam’s Fresh 48 was no different. First time mom and dad could not stop holding him, kissing him and rocking him.

As you can see in the gallery below Mom was a natural. Dad was so cute because he was constantly checking on mom and his new son, and Liam was the perfect model. Let me tell you that Liam’s hair was the topic of conversation during our time. Liam was blessed with a great head of hair like his father. Please take a look through the gallery. Liam’s Fresh 48 session flew by for me as I was taken aback by his cooperation.

Cheshier Family Photos – Time to Book Fall Sessions

It is that time of the year again, family photos will be in full effect. End of summer and the beginning of fall is a photographer’s busiest time. It is also our favorite time to shoot as well. Families begin to call and book family photos in order to have them for Christmas cards, holidays, etc.

The Cheshiers are one of my favorite families to photograph, partly because they are family, but mostly because they are so photogenic. Lisa and I were both raised in Bloomington/Normal. Lisa was raised by my grandparents and my siblings and I were babysat by my grandparents while my parents worked. We both moved up here at separate times in our lives but have always been more like sisters than cousins. Our children are just as close as we are! Connor and Emma have grown up so fast.

While we were recently enjoying a weekend away in Galena we were able to take family photos and they turned out great. It is always a delight when the children are so easy to photograph. Emma had the cutest little smile ever. The love this family has shows in the images. Feel free to take a look at the gallery below to see what I am talking about.

I always enjoy incorporating sunset and nature in my family photos. When booking I always aim to book around sunset. Keep this in mind when booking with me that we will catch the best photos at this time. The end of summer is a great time to get ahead of the rush and have some photos done of the family. Fall family photos are always a delight. I get so excited seeing the colors change and the leaves change. There is nothing better than the smell of apple cider and all the fall scents in the air.

Ellie’s Stunning Newborn Session | Barrington Il Newborn Photographer

Heather reached out to me before sweet Ellie was born and asked if we could incorporate Ellie’s grandfather into the newborn session somehow. Grandpa passed away two weeks prior to Ellie’s arrival and I still can’t imagine the bittersweet emotions the family experienced during that time. My thoughts and prayers are still with their family. I wanted to do something simple that memorialized him and showed the things that he loved without overdoing it. In the photos grandpa was doing and wearing the two things he loved most, triathlons and Iowa Hawkeyes. Heather mentioned that Grandpa was a huge Iowa Hawkeyes fan. When Heather shared that idea with me I could not have said “YES” fast enough.

Ellie’s Demeanor

Stunning newborn photos are always my goal. When it comes so easy to me in a session then I thank my lucky stars. Ellie was so peaceful aside from her not allowing us to bundle her nice and tight. She had to have her one arm out at all times. Ellie most likely was saying “Hey we do this on my terms, even when I am asleep.” Ellie allowed the stunning newborn session to continue until we decided to unwrap her. We put her in a beautiful romper which she proceeded to poop in as to say to me, “I”M DONE!”

When the stars align and my newborn session turn out as “stunning” as these did then I am so thankful.

Noah Turns 3! Milestone Photos | Dupage County Il Family Photographer

Milestone photos are always a great reminder for me as to where I have started and came from to where I am at today. Sweet little Noah did just that for me a few weeks ago. Noah’s parents hired me to photograph their engagement session a few years back and they not only turned into repeat clients but like all of my clients they became friends. I make it a priority to develop relationships with my clients. Noah was cute as a button as a newborn and now he is killing me with his expressions and his smile. Check out the photos below to see how Noah did for his milestone photos. Noah turned three and he wanted the world to know! His mom, Monica, couldn’t have picked better outfits for his shoot. Monica and Carlos came to my studio in Barrington and they allowed me to have a lot of fun with Noah during this shoot. I made Noah so happy when I allowed him to take some photos with my camera. The smile that came upon his face was priceless. Milestone photos are always a great way to mark how your family is growing. Take a look at the photos below to see how much fun I had as well as Noah. Noah, the little white sox fan, that he is had to rock his Sox hat and it fit well with the milestone photos. Also check out the different poses and attitude shots that Noah did for me. This kid is so cute!!!
